Our Sheltering Shakespeare Showcase!

Posted April 25, 2020 by Shaxspear | Leave a Comment

To celebrate Shakespeare 456th birthday (he doesn’t look a day over 302!), we’ve asked members to share a sonnet or speech in our first ever, online Showcase!

We hope you enjoy all the performances!

Kandace Crystal received her BFA in Acting from FSU and favorite credits include Antony and Cleopatra, Romeo and Juliet, and Othello. You may have seen her in our romantic Art Stops this past February (remember when we were outside??).

Sandra Maas is a 35-year broadcast veteran of TV and radio. A longtime news anchor for KUSI, she has earned 13 Emmy nominations, and was also featured in our Sonnets project last fall!

Tom Steward has worked with numerous companies in San Diego, been to the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, and even played Shakespeare himself in The Complete History of Theatre. Tom was also part of our Midsummer Art Stops last June. Fingers crossed we can do this event this year – maybe it’ll be virtual??

Susan Benninghoff has worked as a commercial actress/voiceover artist on both east and west coasts. She is also the only continuous ensemble player in all three of our Shakespeare mock trials!

William Barstad was last seen in “Geography of a Horse Dreamer” and has participated in several San Diego Actors Theater staged readings. Past productions at SDSU include Lysistrata, Caucasian Chalk Circle and Cloud 9.

Ashley Engelman is a recent graduate of USD, where she earned a BA in Theatre/English and a paralegal certificate. Some of her favorite theatrical credits include Viola, Perdita, and Lady M!
