Shakespearean Roots: Folktales that Inspired the Bard

June 7, 2024 @ 1:00 pm - 2:30 pm

$15.00

A king gives his daughters a chance to tell how much they love him. Three boxes — which one contains the real treasure? A man says he can prove that another man’s wife is not faithful. Any of these sound familiar? They should. Shakespeare read all the blockbusters of the day. Gesta Romanorum? And, ecology-minded playwright that he was, he immediately recycled the plots.

The instructor will be Marilyn McPhie, President- Storytellers of San Diego; TEDx Speaker.
