Shakespeare and Tea

September 22 @ 1:00 pm - 3:00 pm

We are exploring the themes of justice and mercy in Shakespeare, pairing a Shakespeare play with a non-Shakespearean play. We started with Merchant of Venice and The Jew of Malta. That resulted in fruitful conversation.

Now we are moving to The Winter’s Tale, which we will read first, paired with a source text, Alcestis: https://www.perseus.tufts.edu/hopper/text?doc=Perseus%3Atext%3A1999.01.0088%3Acard%3D1

We will begin WT this Sunday, 9/22, followed by Alcestis.

The final Shakespeare play in our series on justice and mercy will be Measure for Measure. The pairing play has yet to be determined, so your input is needed!
