Sonnets n’ Speeches: A Celebration of Shakespeare’s Women

Join us for this very special evening as an all-female cast (and two couples) of notable performers takes the stage and enacts selections from the canon honoring the women of Shakespeare.

Karole Foreman – Cleopatra, Antony and Cleopatra; Fences (NAACP Nom); Porgy & Bess, Sweeny Todd (Antaeus); Stupid F**king Bird (Cygnet); Next to Normal, OC Best Actress Award.

Marion Ross – Sonnet 74; Best known as Mrs. Cunningham, Ron Howard’s Mom on TV’s “Happy Days”; 2 Primetime Emmy nominations; Golden Globe Award for Best Supporting Actress; Old Globe Associate Artist.

San Diego Youth Civic Ballet – Sonnet 128; read by Vanessa Dinning; Danika Pramick-Holdaway leads the resident ballet school in Balboa Park; Offers training in Casa del Prado Studios.

Yolanda Franklin – Emilia, Othello; Award-winning actress and director; Performing next at Lamb’s Players Theatre in “Ring Round the Moon.”

Pat Launer – Gertrude, Hamlet; Emmy Award-winning Theater Critic and Arts Writer; Served as host of “Center Stage” KPBS-TV; Hosts theater segments on Channel 4SD and KUSI-TV.

Veronica Murphy and Walter Ritter – Rosalind & Orlando, As You Like It; Co-founders of Write Out Loud; They Inspire, challenge and entertain by reading literature aloud to audiences of all ages.

Julia Giolzetti – Paulina, The Winter’s Tale; BFA, New York University Tisch School of the Arts; Stella Adler Studio of Acting; Performed Off-Broadway as member of The Drunk Shakespeare Society.
