“The course of true love never did run smooth.”
THE PLAY
Written in 1595/96, A Midsummer Night’s Dream portrays the events surrounding the marriage of Theseus, the Duke of Athens, to Hippolyta (the former queen of the Amazons). These include the adventures of four young Athenian lovers and a group of six amateur actors (the mechanicals) who are controlled and manipulated by the fairies who inhabit the forest in which most of the play is set. The play is one of Shakespeare’s most popular works for the stage and is widely performed across the world. Oberon, Puck, Titania, Bottom, Lysander, Demetrius, Helena, Hermia and many more—so many wonderful characters in this one!
OUR LEADER

THE PLAN
You’re invited! All ages welcome. Free. We recast after every scene so all who want to get a chance to read. All casting is non-gender specific so women can read men’s roles and vice-versa. If you’d like to just listen that’s OK too. Please bring a copy of the play if possible. We MAY have a couple of extra copies. The benefit to you when you read Shakespeare out loud is that you sharpen your cold reading skills whether you’re an actor or someone who just enjoys speaking and hearing the wonderful poetry and graceful language. It doesn’t hurt your street cred either.
You will meet others who share your interest in Shakespeare and theater. We look forward to seeing you here!
