DESCRIPTION:Dr. Gideon Rappaport\, retired teacher and active dramaturge\, who has spent over 45 years teaching Shakespeare\, will explain how a dramaturge helps to improve the quality of the productions of Shakespeare’s plays for the benefit of the audience. \nDr. Rappaport has taught Shakespeare\, British Literature\, and Humanities at Hamilton College\, SUNY Cortland\, Concordia University\, the University of New Hampshire\, The Bishop’s School\, and La Jolla Country Day School. He has also served as theatrical dramaturge for numerous professional theatres including the Old Globe Theatre\, the San Diego Repertory Theatre\, the North Coast Repertory Theatre\, and the Intrepid Theatre\, to name just a few.

In commemoration of the 250th anniversary of the United States\, Jack has conducted exclusive research on the impact of Shakespeare and his works on the Founders and on early American society as a whole. Prior to that she taught at the School of Slavonic and East European Languages\, London University where she also received her PhD in Russian language and literature. DESCRIPTION:Join Benjamin Cole\, Director of Theatre School Education and Outreach at North Coast Repertory Theatre\, for a lively conversation about how to act Shakespeare. Don’t miss this special event as there will also be live demonstrations of the principles discussed. \nWith over 20 years of professional acting experience\, Ben has been seen on stage locally at The Old Globe\, The La Jolla Playhouse\, North Coast Repertory Theatre\, and many others. In addition to his work at NCRT\, he is an adjunct professor of Theatre at Grossmont College. Ben earned his Master of Fine Arts in Acting from Western Illinois University\, his Bachelor of Fine Arts in Acting/Directing from Central Michigan University and studied acting through New York University in Ireland. He has experience acting\, teaching\, directing\, and fight choreographing all over the country including work with the Orlando Shakespeare Theater\, the Oklahoma Shakespearean Festival\, and the Illinois Shakespeare Festival.

This “all levels” Shakespeare acting class will give you the tools to speak\, understand and act Shakespeare through rehearsal and performance.
