DESCRIPTION:TL;DR: Benedick and Beatrice don’t love each other but then they do. Claudio and Hero love each other but then they don’t but then they do again. Everyone gets married. \nMore info/register link: Click me \n—- \nA bit more about the play: Count Claudio falls in love with Hero\, the daughter of his host. Hero’s cousin Beatrice (a confirmed spinster) and Benedict (an eternal bachelor) are each duped into believing the other is in love with them. Claudio is deceived by a malicious plot and denounces Hero as unchaste before they marry. She faints and is believed dead\, but recovers to be proved innocent by a chance discovery. Benedict wins Beatrice’s love defending her cousin’s honour\, and to his surprise\, Claudio is reunited with Hero\, who he believed dead.  \n\nThis is a hybrid event with in-person/zoom.\n\nMeeting in person at the Coronado Public Library 640 Orange Ave\, Coronado\, CA 92118\nRegister at Eventbrite for zoom link: https://www.eventbrite.com/e/much-ado-about-nothing-part-two-free-readingonline-and-in-person-tickets-156436799679 . She has been an instructor in composition and literature at USC\, Washington State\, PACE program\, Mira Costa College\, and Southwestern College. Kim received the Star Award from the San Diego Performing Arts League in 2012 for her work at the SDSS. She is a former associate general editor of The Shakespeare Standard. \n—- \nFAQ \nQ: Do I have to read? \nA: You are welcome to show up and just watch. We suspect\, however\, that it will look like too much fun for you to resist for long. A lot of newcomers don’t want to read initially but when they see how fun it is\, they join in! But there is no pressure at all if you just want to watch and we have regular attendees who have never read. \nQ: Can I act as a specific character or be in a particular scene? \nA: That may be possible. Each evening has an assigned director who has planned what scenes to cover. If you are really anxious to act in a specific scene\, talk to the director at the start and see what can be arranged. No guarantees\, but if the scene is being done that night\, it might be possible. All scenes are cast that night right before they are read\, so usually\, everyone who wants to act has the chance to do at least a small role. \nQ: Who can participate? \nA: Everyone! DESCRIPTION:Join us for a fun night of reading the play with our leader Patrick McBride – part of our North County-led events!\n\n\n\n\n\nAbout this event\n\n\nThere will be a ZOOM link to join the reading\, available on the Online Event page or in your “My Tickets” section. He thinks that she is dead. Everyone thinks that she is her brother. Everyone thinks that her brother is her. Shenanigans ensue. \n—- \nA bit more about the play: Viola\, separated from her twin Sebastian\, dresses as a boy and works for the Duke Orsino\, whom she falls in love with. Orsino is in love with the Countess Olivia\, and sends Viola to court her for him\, but Olivia falls for Viola instead. Sebastian arrives\, causing a flood of mistaken identity\, and marries Olivia. Viola then reveals she is a girl and marries Orsino. \nPatrick McBride has directed\, acted and taught for over 25 years. He is a Teaching Artist with Young Audiences of San Diego\, Playwrights Project\, and CoTA. He has a B.F.A in Directing from the University of North Carolina School of the Arts. He’s played roles as diverse as Laurence in Dirty Rotten Scoundrels\, Bullshot in Bullshot Crummond\, Fagin in Oliver\, Benidick in Much Ado About Nothing\, Billy in Anything Goes\, and James Joyce in Travesties. Numerous professional credits at The Old Globe\, La Jolla Playhouse\, PCPA Theaterfest\, Cygnet\, Intrepid\, and North Coast Rep. Other regional and local credits include Assistant Director on Broadway for The School for Scandal (with Tony Randall\,) The Shakespeare Theatre in DC\, Great Lakes Theatre Festival in Cleveland\, San Diego Jr. Theatre\, Moonlight\, Diversionary\, as well as Shakespeare Festivals in Lake Tahoe\, San Luis Obispo and Atlanta. \n—- \nFAQ \nQ: Do I have to read? \nA: You are welcome to show up and just watch.
